Roles and responsibilities

• Write new webscrapes to capture data from websites

• Fix webscrapes when they break for example due to website changes

• Improve webscrapes for better performance higher reliability and accuracy

• Analyse data from webscrapes to ensure that it is complete and accurate

• Collaborate in a team of webscraping engineers product managers and Data Quality Analysts to ensure “360° quality” in the data we scrape and manage.

Required skills and experience

• PHP 5 years

• Knowledge of Web scraping

• Really good communication and interpersonal skills. Doing this job well requires close collaboration with Data Quality Analysts and it’s vital that webscraping engineers have very strong abilities (a) in understanding issues raised by the DQAs and (b) in communicating and explaining issues asking followup questions in a precise and clear manner.

• An ability to understand complex datasets and data requirements. Our data collection requirements are complex and a successful Web Scraping Engineer will need the ability to quickly grasp the underlying logic behind these requirements.

• Comfortable working with websites in many different languages. Beyond having fluent and clear English we don’t require our engineers to speak many different languages — but they must be able to work with websites in any European or eastAsian language using common sense and Google translate.
